One of the few checks we would carry out, upon providing a hedge trimming quotation and commencement of the job, would be to confirm if there are any nesting chicks in the hedge.
It is an offence under Section 1 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act of 1981 to intentionally take, damage or destroy, the nest of any wild bird, while it is in use or being built.

Should there be any nests in use, we would reschedule the job until the chicks had fledged i.e. left the nest. This would be monitored every two weeks or so, upon arrangement with the client.
